Twila Engle

Twila Engle On August 26, 2018, Twila J. Engle, age 82, passed away peacefully leaving this earth for her heavenly home to see her loving Savior, Jesus Christ, whom she longed to see most of all.
She was born May 2, 1936 in Pottstown, PA, the daughter of Aaron and Annabelle Tyson. She attended grade school in a one room schoolhouse and at the age of 12, she received Jesus as her Savior and soon after dedicated her life to serve the Lord.
She attended high school at Spring City, PA for two years then two years at Messiah Academy in Grantham, PA, graduating in 1954. After graduation she worked in a clothing factory, the beginning of many years as a seamstress.
On November 12, 1955, she married Delbert F. Engle and they farmed for 40 years in Dickinson County. She was a loving farmer’s wife and homemaker showing continual hospitality. Being an excellent cook and seamstress, she was a wonderful example of a Proverbs 31 woman. Her love for gardening and tending many flowerbeds brought much joy and satisfaction. They had 4 children - Joyce Dunlap, Janet Poore, Joan Christner and Ron Engle. Also to their family were stillborn babies - Joseph and John (twins) and Julia Faye.
She loved serving as a member in her church and community. At Zion Brethren in Christ Church she served many years as a Sunday school teacher, Jr. Dept. superintendent, organist and deaconess. In her community she was a part of EHU, Hospice, Home Health and the Community Clothing Bank.
Left to cherish her memory are her four children - Joyce (Donovan) Dunlap of Jupiter, FL, Janet (Don) Poore of Paola, KS, Joan (Bill) Christner of Abilene and Ron (Jenny) Engle of Attalla, AL; a sister, Cena (Howard) Kauffman of Mechanicsburg, PA; a brother, Lee Tyson of Madera, CA; eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her infant twin sons, an infant daughter and her loving husband, Delbert F. Engle in 2010.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday, August 30 from 5:30-7:00 at the Danner Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at Zion Brethren in Christ Church, 997 K-18, Abilene, KS, August 31st at 10:00 am with Pastor Jay Johnson and Ron Bowell officiating. Interment will follow at the Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in her honor to the Zion Brethren in Christ Church. They can be left at the church the day of the service or sent in care of the Danner Funeral Home, PO Box 758, Abilene, KS 67410.
