Henry F. Henry F. "Hank" Sanchez

74, passed away Sunday, August 19th, at his home. He was born March 13, 1944 at Superior, Nebraska, the son of D.T. and Lupe Sanchez. Growing up in Weber, Kansas, Hank attended local schools and graduated from Chapman High School with the class of 1962. On June 29, 1963 he married Fran Anguiano. All of their married life was spent in Abilene. Hank had been employed as a locomotive engineer by the BNSF Railroad until retiring in 2004. He was a member of St. Andrews Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, the Morning Optimists' Club, BLE and had coached kids' recreational sports.
Hank was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Matthew, in 1994 and a brother, Linus, in 2018. He enjoyed Kansas State football and basketball, antiquing and reunions.
He is survived by his wife Fran Sanchez of Abilene; two daughters, Nancy (Mike Mock) Sanchez of Abilene, Pamela (Kenny) Post of Salina; son, Manuel "Manny" Sanchez; two sisters, Patty (Wayne) Feazel of San Antonio, Texas, Irene (David) Nevitt of Abilene; four brothers, Alex (Jody) Sanchez of Salina, George (Sharolyn) Sanchez of Manchester, Andy Sanchez of Blue Springs, Missouri, Ted Sanberry of Kiowa; five grandchildren, Roman and Riley Sanchez, Kaleigh and Dana Post, Meghan Kroeger and five great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 AM Thursday, August 23rd at St. Andrews Catholic Church with Celebrant Fr. Don Zimmerman. Interment will follow in the Mt. St. Joseph Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 22nd, beginning at 5:00 PM with a Parish Rosary recited at 6:00 PM at the Danner Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions in his name be made to the Hank Sanchez Memorial Fund to be designated later. They may be left at the church the day of the service or left at or sent in care of the Danner Funeral Home POB 758 Abilene, Kansas 67410.
