Josepha "Jo" Anguiano, 89, went to walk with the Lord Tuesday, November 1, 2016. She was born July 7, 1927 in Abilene, the daughter of Sotero and Eladia (Mendoza) Gil. Growing up in Abilene, Jo attended local schools. On July 21,1947, she was married to Rosario C. "Rosy" Anguiano. All of their married life was spent in Abilene. Jo loved spending time with and cooking for family and friends, enjoying the laughter and entertainment they shared. She also enjoyed gardening, walking, playing Bingo and visiting. Rosy preceded her in death January 22, 1994. Jo was a member of St. Andrews Catholic Church and former member of the Eagles' Lodge. She was also preceded in death by: her parents; a son, Bobby; three sisters, Andrea, Pilar and Silveria and five brothers, Theodore, Manual, Lupe, Larry and Vincent.
Jo is survived by: five daughters, twins Anita (Bill) Barnhart and Vanita (David) Castor of Hutchinson, Elizabeth (Dennis) Johnson of Abilene, Theresa (Greg) Stroda of Chapman and Trina (Keith) Ganzenmuller of Salina; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Margaret Mazzi of San Francisco Mary Gil Anguiano of Abilene and Mary Ellen Martinez of San Antonio and brother Macario Gil of Abilene. nieces; nephews and other survivors.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, November 5th at the St. Andrews Catholic Church with Celebrant Fr. Abraham Panthalanickal. The family has chosen cremation to follow, private family inurnment will be held at a later date. The family will receive friends Friday, November 4th, beginning at 5:30 PM with a Parish Rosary to follow at 7:00 PM at the Danner Funeral Home. The family suggests memorial contributions in her name be made to the St. Andrews Adopt a Student Program. They may be left at the church the day of the service or left at or sent in care of the Danner Funeral Home POB 758 Abilene, Kanas 67410.
