Arnold Edward "Ed" Heide
Ed Heide, 81, passed away Thursday, October 13th, in Abilene. He was born September 11, 1935 in WaKeeney, Kansas, the son of Edward B. and Elizabeth A. (Beer) Heide. Growing up in WaKeeney, Ed attended local schools, graduated from Trego Community High School with the class of 1953 and graduated from Emporia State in 1960 with a BA in business. He was an Army veteran having served in Alaska from 1953 - 1956. On June 13, 1959, he married Trudi Gile in Concordia. Most all of their married life has been spent in Abilene. Ed had been employed by Roy Simmons Accounting and Chet Gay Construction as an accountant before owning and operating A. Ed Heide Accounting. He enjoyed baseball, coaching T-ball through high school, golf and K-State football. He was a member of St. Andrews Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and had been the secretary of the Elks' Lodge, B.P.O.E. #1675 for many years. Ed was preceded in death by his parents and much loved aunt, Martha Beer.
Ed is survived by: wife, Trudi Heide of Abilene; two daughters, Kristine (Randy) Barrett of Abilene and Michelle (Mark) Olsen of Prairie Village; son, David (Beth) Heide of Belton, Missouri; six grandchildren, Quinn, Brenna and Sophia Barrett, Henry Olsen and Madison and Rhett Heide; brother, Robert (Joanne) Heide of Lenexa, Kansas and uncle, William Beer of Wichita.
The family has chosen cremation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 AM Friday, October 21st, at the St. Andrews Catholic Church with Fr. Abraham Panthalanickal officiating. Private inurnment will be held at a later date. The family will receive friends beginning at 5:30 PM Thursday, October 20th, with a Parish Rosary at 6:30 PM at the Danner Funeral Home. The family suggests memorial contributions in his memory be made to the Abilene Baseball Club. They may be left at the Church the day of the service or left at or sent in care of the Danner Funeral Home POB 758 Abilene, Kansas 67410.
