Teddy R. "Ted Brown

Teddy R. Teddy R. “Ted” Brown, 85, of Abilene, Kansas passed away Wednesday, August 31, 2016, at Village Manor Nursing Home in Abilene.
Ted was born August 29, 1931 in Missouri City, Missouri to Clarence and Lorene (Jones) Brown. Ted was a graduate of Liberty Missouri High School. On May 25, 1952, Ted married Gertrude “Gertie” Rahmeier of Sylvan Grove, Kansas. Together, they reared three children. In 1959, Ted was confirmed into the Lutheran Church at Sylvan Grove. He was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church in Abilene. Ted served his country with the Army Signal Corps in the Korean War. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars. Ted was employed by The Union Pacific Railroad and ran a family business. Later he was employed by Erinie Rahmeier Trucking and Schwan’s Trucking. In 2004, Ted retired from Schwan’s Food.
During retirement, Ted and Gertie became snowbirds. They enjoyed spending winters in their RV in Texas and Arizona making memories with the many friends they met on their travels. Ted and Gertie loved their Texas residence for almost ten years before returning home to Abilene in 2014.
Ted was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Lorene Brown and his brother, Clarence E. Brown.
Ted is survived by his wife, Gertie Brown; one son, Jim and Judy Brown of Keller, TX; and two daughters: Cathy and Phillip Cosby of Abilene, and Cindy and Ralph Manning of Abilene; five grandchildren, Jesse and Megan Howard, Jim and Ashley Howard, Justin Seaman, Scott Brown and Melissa Brown. Also surviving are: 7 step grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, 7 step great-grandchildren, 2 nephews, and many loving friends.
A celebration of life service will be held at 9:30 AM Saturday, September 3rd, at Faith Lutheran Church in Abilene. Pastor Justin Panzer will be officiating. Burial will follow at Abilene Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family 5:30 - 6:30 PM Friday, September 2nd, at Danner Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Faith Lutheran Church, 1600 North Buckeye Avenue, Abilene, KS 67410.
