Robert W "Bob" Gilfillan
Robert W. "Bob" Gilfillan, 84, passed away Monday, August 29th, in Abilene. He was born August 31, 1931 in Coffeyville, the son of Arthur and Audrey (Stewart) Gilfillan. Growing up in Coffeeville, Bob attended local schools. He had been employed by the Coleman Company before becoming a mechanic specializing in diesel engines. On September 19, 1953, Bob married Flora J. Bennett in Independence, Kansas. Their married life was spent in California and Kansas before retiring from Ryder Truck in 1994. He enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting and fishing. Bob is preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and four brothers.
He is survived by: wife, Flora Gilfillan of Abilene; three daughters, Debbie (Jerry) Marsteller of Abilene, Anita (Jeff) Freeborn of Randolph and Kristina Gilfillan of Topeka; two sons, Rob (Middy) Gilfillan of Erie and Art (Dianne) Gilfillan of Abilene; sister, Audrey Beddow of Weatherford, Texas; ten grandchildren; twenty six great-grandchildren and a nephew, Kenneth Bonham of Memphis, Tennessee.
Graveside services will be held 10:30 AM Thursday, September 1st, at the Prairiedale Cemetery north of Talmage with Pastor Jack Gilstrap officiating. The family will receive friends 5:30 - 6:30 PM Wednesday at the Danner Funeral Home. The family suggests memorial contributions in his name be made to the Talmage Senior Center.
