Marvin P. "Squeak" Geist
Marvin P. “Squeak” Geist Sr., 93, passed away Tuesday, May 31st, in Abilene. He was born March 10, 1923 near Upland, the son of Boyd and Marie (Meister) Geist. Growing up in the area, Marvin attended Fragrant Hill Grade School and graduated from Enterprise High School. He was an Army Veteran serving in World War II, a prisoner of war and was awarded the purple heart. On June 23, 1947 Marvin married Marion Elizabeth Page in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The first four years of their married life were spent in Arkansas before moving to a farm near Abilene. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Marvin P. Geist Jr. and a brother, Sam Geist. Marvin was a member of D.A.V., American Legion and V.F.W.
Marvin is survived by his wife, Marion, of Abilene; a granddaughter, Adrian (Matt) Hettenbach, of Solomon; a daughter-in-law, Cheril Janssen-Geist, of Solomon and a niece, Kay Geist-Selders, of Salina.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Monday, June 6th, at the Danner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Bethel Cemetery northeast of Abilene. The family will receive friends 2:00 to 3:00 PM Sunday, June 5th, at the Danner Funeral Home. The family suggests memorial contributions in his name be made to the Abilene Softball League.
