88, passed away Friday, April 15th, in Abilene. She was born January 20, 1928 near Longford, the daughter of Lewis and Helen (Hughes) Foote. Growing up in the Chapman area, Jean attended local schools and graduated from Chapman High School with the class of 1946. On August 31, 1947, she was married to Leonard Black in Chapman. All of their married life was spent farming in the Navarre/Hope area. Jean had been employed by the Navarre Post Office. Leonard preceded her in death Augusts 20, 1998. In 2003, she moved to Abilene. Jean enjoyed spending time with friends and family, especially her four legged family, dancing, playing cards, crafts and sewing.

Funeral services will be held 1:30 PM Monday, April 18th, at the Danner Funeral Home with Pastor Kerry Coup officiating, interment will follow in the Mt. Hope Cemetery south of Enterprise. The family will receive friends 4:00 – 5:00 PM Sunday at the Danner Funeral Home. The family suggests memorial contributions in her name be made to the Corgi Connection of Kansas or the Kansas Special Dog Services.
