Merle D. Stout
81, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family Wednesday, March 2nd, in Salina. He was born November 5, 1934 near Longford, the son of Stanley T. and Grace L. (Young) Stout. Growing up in the area, Merle attended local schools and graduated from Longford High School with the class of 1952. On August 19, 1954 he married Bernice E. Deines. Most all of their married life was spent in Abilene. Merle had been employed as an over the road trucker for Bailey Truck Line, Ehrsham’s Manufacturing, Green Ford and Yellow Freight Transit before retiring in 1993. Bernice preceded him in death August 24, 2013. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, hunting, fishing and reading Louis L’Amour. Merle was also preceded by his parents; two sisters, Dora Gasswint and Eva Moses and two brothers, Stanley and Eugene Stout. He was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church and the Teamsters.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, March 5th, at the Faith Lutheran Church with Rev. Justin Panzer officiating. Interment will follow in the Rose Meron Cemetery north of Longford. The family will receive friends 6:30 – 7:30 PM Friday, March 4hth, at the Danner Funeral Home. The family suggests memorial contributions in his name be made to the Faith Lutheran Church. They may be left at the church the day of the service or left at or sent in care of the Danner Funeral Home POB 758 Abilene, Kansas 6410.
