Daniel P. (Danny) Sims,

63, passed away Thursday, October 29th, in Wichita. He was born November 7, 1951 in Abilene, the son of Donald R. and Pauline C. (Zey) Sims. Growing up in Abilene, Dan attended St. Andrews grade school and graduated from Abilene High School with the class of 1970. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving in Vietnam before returning to join the family business, Abilene Termite and Pest Control, and later managing it until 2001. . Dan was very social and enjoyed BBQ’s, parties and beer with his many friends and family. He had a generous warm heart and always remembered birthdays making the first call of the day to wish a “Happy Birthday”. Dan was most proud of his grandson, Andrew. He thought the world of him and had a special place in his heart for him. Dan will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Ted, Steve, Timothy and Christopher. He was a member of the St. Andrews Parish in Abilene.

Many beloved nieces and nephews, family, friends and neighbors.
The family has chosen cremation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday, November 4th, at the St. Andrews Catholic Church with Celebrant Fr. Henry Baxa officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Mt. St. Joseph Cemetery. A Parish Rosary will be recited 5:00 PM Tuesday, November 3rd, at the Danner Funeral Home with family visitation following until 6:30PM. The family suggests memorial contributions in his memory be given to the V.A Hospice, Chapman American Legion or the St. Andrews Catholic School. They may be left at the church the day of the service or left at or sent in care of the Danner Funeral Home POB 758 Abilene, Kansas 67410.
