74. passed away Tuesday, October 13th, in Abilene. He was born March 24, 1941 in Washington, Kansas, the son of George M. and Gladys M. (Barnes) Thomas. Growing up in Morrowville, Daniel attended local schools and graduated from Morrowville High School with the class of 1959. In 1960 he entered the U.S. Air Force, serving in Greenland until retiring in 1980. On November 7, 1981 Daniel married Sally M. (Farber) De Lay. All of their married life has been spent in Abilene. He had been employed as a lab tech by the Washington County Hospital before coming to Abilene in 1981 to work in the Abilene Memorial Hospital as a lab tech, retiring in 1998. Daniel later was employed by the Law Veterinary Clinic for six years. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Gary Thomas. Daniel was a member and Elder of the Abilene First Christian Church.

The family has chosen cremation. A memorial service will be held 1:30 PM Saturday, October 17th, at the Abilene First Christian Church with Pastor Jason Kohler officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Abilene Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions in his name be given to the Abilene First Christian Church, Village Manor, or the Hospice of Dickinson County. They may be left at the church the day of the service or left at or sent in care of the Danner Funeral Home POB 758 Abilene, Kansas 67410.
