Joyce W. “J.W.” Romberger
96, passed away Wednesday, April 8th, in Abilene. He was born September 23, 1918 in rural Dickinson County the son of W.E. and Mabel (Stafford) Romberger, Growing up in the area, Joyce attended local schools and graduated from Talmage High School. He was a W.W. II army veteran having served in the Pacific Theater. On October 7, 1945, he married Gladys Greep in Abilene. Most all of their married live was spent farming north of Abilene and raising livestock. Joyce had also been a Pioneer seed salesman for over fifty years. In 2012 they moved to Abilene. He was a member of the Talmage United Methodist Church, Talmage Lions Club, Tri County Telephone Board, USD 473 School Board, C.K.F.F. Board and the Dickinson County Sheep Association. Joyce enjoyed talking to people, never meeting a stranger. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Nelson Romberger and a sister, Evelyn Norton.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Monday, April 13th, at the Talmage United Methodist Church with Rev. Ken Stout officiating. Interment will follow in the Prairiedale Cemetery north of Talmage. The family will receive friends 2:00 – 3:00 PM Sunday, April 12th, at the Danner Funeral Home. The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name be made to the Talmage United Methodist Church or the Hospice of Dickinson County.
