88, passed away Tuesday, April 7th, in Abilene. She was born April 18, 1926 in rural Dickinson County, the daughter of Archie J. and Hazel M. (Foster) Maring. Growing up south of Chapman, Shirley attended local schools, graduated from Chapman High School and attended Mary Mount College. She had been employed as a school teacher in various schools in Dickinson County, KP&L and Alco. On August 24, 1957, Shirley was married to Orban L. Haas. All of their married life was spent in Abilene. Shirley enjoyed quilting, having quilted over 13,000 quilts, and crocheting. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Maxine Hammond and a brother, Dean Maring.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Friday, April 10th, at the Danner Funeral Home with Pastor Lindsey Brummer officiating. Interment will follow in the Prairiedale Cemetery north of Talmage. The family will receive friends 5:30 – 6:30 PM Thursday, April 9th, at the Danner Funeral Home. The family asks, that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name be made to the Hospice of Dickinson County or Village Manor.
