Bruce E. Kogler
80, passed away Wednesday, February 4th. He was born May 6, 1934 south of Abilene, the son of Earl R. and Mary E. (Foltz) Kogler. Growing up in the area, he attended local schools. On August 15, 1954, Bruce married Beverly Ann Book at the Abilene First United Methodist Church. Most of their married life was spent farming north of Abilene. The couple celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 2014. He had been employed by Skelly for 22 years, was a volunteer fireman in Abilene and served as a volunteer on the District #1 Fire Department for 10 years. Bruce was a charter member of the Wild Bill Hickok Rodeo Committee and Buckeye Saddle Club, a member of Elks and was a board member of the Talmage CO-OP. He enjoyed his grand and great-grandchildren, welding/fabricating and horse riding. Bruce was preceded in death by his parents and a son-in-law Randy Hamel.

Funeral services will be held 1:30 PM Tuesday, February 10th, at the Abilene First United Methodist Church with Rev. John Collins officiating. Interment will follow in the Livingston/Union Cemetery north of Abilene. The family will receive friends 5:30 to 6:30 PM Monday, February 9th, at the Danner Funeral Home. The family suggests memorials in his name be made to the Elsie Brooks Memorial Cancer Fund. They may be left at the church the day of the service or left at or sent in care of the Danner Funeral Home POB 758 Abilene, Kansas 67410.
