Marcene I. Fowler
93, passed away Wednesday, November 26th, in Abilene. She was born December 15, 1920 in Clay Center, the daughter of John and Elsie (Siemers) Brose. Growing up in Clay Center, Marcene attended local schools, graduated from Clay Center High School and received her bachelor degrees in English and Physical Education from Kansas State University. On August 22, 1942 she was married to Max F. Fowler. Marcene began her teaching career at Morganville High School, then Highland Country School, which was a one room schoolhouse teaching all eight grades, then fourth grade at McKinley for several years in Abilene. They moved to Abilene in 1948. Most all of their married life was spent in Abilene. He preceded her in death February 3, 2002. She enjoyed gardening, biking, swimming, tennis, anything K-State and spending time with her family. Marcene was a member of the Abilene Presbyterian Church, Delta Delta Delta Sorority and PEO Chapter JQ sisterhood, She was also preceded in death by a brother, Dr. Donald Brosie. A special thank you to the Abilene Sterling House staff, who provided loving and excellent care to Marcene for the last six years.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, December 1st, at the Abilene Presbyterian Church with Rev. Tom Reid officiating. Interment will follow in the Abilene Cemetery. Memorial contributions in her name are suggested to the Abilene PEO chapter JQ, which is an organization providing scholarships, or the Abilene Presbyterian Church.
