Lawrence W. Sleichter
86, passed away Sunday, November 23rd, in Abilene. He was born November 18, 1928 near Abilene, the son of William O. and Ellen (Ebersole) Sleichter. Growing up in the area Lawrence attended local schools. He had farmed for six years before being employed by Belle Springs Creamery, Seymour Packing and Tip Top Dairy. Lawrence started plumbing with Wilford Witte, owned his own plumbing shop, was employed by the RHV store, Denny’s Plumbing and Hansen Appliance. On August 11, 1950, he married Lois M. Wilson in Abilene.
All their married life was spent in Abilene. Lawrence enjoyed working in his large garden and selling his tomatoes at the Farmers’ Market. He was a member of the Community Bible Church. Lawrence was preceded in death by a son Steve, his parents, four brothers and a sister.

The family has chosen cremation. A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, December 6th, at the Danner Funeral Home with Pastor Lindsey Brummer officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Abilene Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions in his name be made to the Abilene Clothing and Food Bank.
