John W. “Jack” McVan Jr.
67, passed away Sunday, September 14th, in Abilene. He was born May 3, 1947 in Akron, Ohio, the son of John W. Sr. and Rosealine M. (Stutz) McVan. Growing up in Akron, Jack attended local schools. In February of 1965 he entered the Army and was discharged in 1971. In 1968 he had moved to Abilene. On September 12, 1970, Jack married Elizabeth Anguiano, later divorcing. After leaving the service, Jack worked various jobs in the Abilene area and retired from the Salina Post Office in 2001. He was preceded in death by his parents.

The family has chosen cremation. A memorial service will be held 10:30 AM Friday, September, 19th at the Danner Funeral Home with Pastor Jason Kohler officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Ft. Riley Cemetery. The family will receive friends 5:30 to 6:30 PM Thursday, September 18th, at the Danner Funeral Home. The family suggests memorials in his name be given to the Wounded Warrior Fund. They may be left at or sent in care of the Danner Funeral Home POB 758 Abilene, Kansas 67410.
