Loving Daddy, Grandpa, and GGpa, Leo Albin Anderson was born to Elmer E. Anderson and Hazel (Lindamood) Anderson on July 11, 1925 in Agenda, Kansas. He went to heaven on September 11, 2014, in Abilene, Kansas.
At the age of 20, he enlisted in the Army on May 10, 1946, serving in World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War, receiving many medals and commendations over his military career. He was a member of the VFW and Masonic Lodge.
On January 28, 1957 he married Dorothy Mae Goss they had two children, Pattie & Leo Jr. and on Feb. 1, 1992 he married Donna Jean Peterson.
After retiring from the military he worked different jobs, exploring life to the fullest. He loved woodworking and spending time with his family which was very important to him.
Leo was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer & Hazel Anderson, sister Iris Roe, brothers, Orville and Gerald, spouses Dorothy and Donna. Survivors include his brother Charles Anderson and wife Alice of Salina, Ks., Children Patricia (Anderson) Bess and husband Randy of Abilene, Ks., Leo A Anderson, Jr. and wife Thuy Ngyen of St. Petersburg, Fl., Grandchildren, Charles “Michael” Bess and wife Alysha of Wentzville, Mo., Chilsai (Bess) Fahrenkrog and husband Landry of Fayettville, N.C., and his pride and joy Great granddaughter Avaigh Basham and future Great grandson. Along with nieces, nephews and cousins.
Other loved ones are Beverly (Newman) Hatfield of Clearwater, FL. And her two sons Zachariah Hatfield and Joshua Hatfield of Largo, Fl.
The Celebration of Life will be at 10:30am, Friday, October 31 at the VA Cemetery at Fort Riley, Kansas, with full military honors.
