Jerry R. Heine
73, passed away Sunday, March 30th, at home surrounded by his family. He was born August 5, 1940 in rural Alma, the son of Fred H. and Elsie L. (Cheatwood) Heine. Growing up in the Alma area, Jerry attended local schools, graduated from Alma High School and attended Kansas State University for two and a half years. On June 29, 1963, he married Alice Marie Hunsicker in Topeka. The early years of their married life was spent in Alma, Perry, Scranton and Lyndon before moving to Abilene in 1971. Together they owned and operated Heine Greyhounds. Jerry had also been employed by Goodyear; Norman Ham Farming, Ranching and construction; Clemence Feed Lot and retired from ADM Milling. He was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association and the National Greyhound Association. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M. Friday, April 4th, at the Abilene Bible Baptist Church with Pastor Carson Johnson officiating assisted by Travis Cover (grandson). Interment will follow in the Abilene Cemetery. The family will receive friends 5:30 to 6:30 P.M. Thursday, April 3rd, at the Danner Funeral Home. The family suggests memorial contributions in his name be given to the Abilene Baptist Academy or the Abilene Bible Baptist Church. They may be left at the church the day of the service or left at or sent in care of the Danner Funeral Home POB 758 Abilene, Kansas 67410.
