William L. Maxon
71, passed away Monday, March 10th, in Abilene. He was born October 5, 1942 in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Vernon and Doris (Johnson) Maxon. Growing up in Des Moines, he attended local schools. Bill was an Air Force veteran. Bill’s working life began as a trucker, moving on to be an automotive mechanic then an industrial mechanic at Tony’s Pizza in Salina, Exide Battery in Hays and Turbine Specialies in Salina retiring in 2005. In 1961, he married Jean Stettnisch. Most all of their married life was spent in Kansas City, Kansas. She preceded him in death in 1977. In 1983 he married Taryn Baker, later divorcing in 1999.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M. Saturday, March 15th, at the Danner Funeral Home with Rev. John Acheson officiating. Interment will follow in the Maplewood Cemetery at Barnes, Kansas. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 6:00 P.M. Friday, March 14th, at the Danner Funeral Home.
