Judith Ann “Judy” Shetter

77, passed away Saturday, December 21st, at Aldersgate Village in Topeka. She was born September 7, 1936, near Manchester, the daughter of Harry Elmer and Nellie Leona (Barclay) Coup. Growing up in the area, Judy attended local schools and graduated from Chapman High School with the class of 1954. She attended Asbury School of Nursing in Salina, graduating with the class of 1957. On September 8, 1957, she married Lee Arlen Schwab. He preceded her in death December 30, 1981. To this union was born one son, Keith DaLon Schwab. On January 8, 1983 Judy was married to Lyle T. Shetter, of Abilene. He preceded her in death May 21, 1992. She was employed as a registered nurse at Abilene Memorial Hospital for 32 years, retiring in January of 1992. At the time of her death, Judy was a member of Countryside United Methodist Church in Topeka where she was active in the United Methodist Women. She served 12 years on the Topeka District United Methodist Women’s Mission Team, serving as president the last four years. She was also preceded in death by her son, Keith DaLon Schwab on December 10, 2002 and her parents. Judy is survived by a brother, Max Coup, of McPherson; two stepsons, Thaine Shetter, of Kingston, New Jersey and Tracy Shetter and wife Janet of Wichita; a niece, Joleen Wehrman; and a Nephew, Donavon Coup. Judy willed her body to the University of Kansas Medical Center for medical research. At her request, no memorial service is planned. Memorials may be made to Aldersgate Village Good Samaritan Fund, 7220 S.W. Asbury Dr., Topeka, Kansas 66614. Danner Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.
