Sandra L. Lahr

Sandra L. Lahr Sandra (Sandy) L. Lahr, 66, passed away Wednesday, April 24th. She was born September 13, 1946 in Wichita, the daughter of LeRoy E. and Vesta E. (Ausherman) McElwain. Growing up in Wichita, she attended local schools, graduated from West High School and received her degree in Extension from Kansas State University. On January 28, 1967, she was married to Jerry P. Lahr and moved to Abilene. In May of 1969, they moved to the farm south of Abilene. Sandy became active in learning the farming process. Because of her interest in the welfare of young people in the community, she worked with youth as a para and teacher’s aid in the local school districts. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Shelly Robin Dunlap, father, LeRoy E. McElwain, step-father, Forrest D. Jackson, brother Roger Lee McElwain, sister-in-law, Karen (Lahr) Razak and father- in-law, John Lahr.

Funeral services will be held 1:30 P.M. Monday, April 29th, at the Emmanuel United Methodist Church with Rev. Mark Stanger officiating. Interment will follow in the Newbern Cemetery. The family will receive friends 3:00 until 4:00 P.M. Sunday, April 28th, at the Danner Funeral Home. The family suggests memorial contributions in her name be made to Kansas Bible Camp, Mt Pleasant EP Church, Mount Pleasant EPC for Missions or Hospice of Dickinson County.
